The design of the poster for the 2023 city festival under the motto 'Back to the Future' and the 50th anniversary tells of a diverse togetherness and mindful interaction with the city and nature in lively illustrations. The design shows a collection of personal as well as collective memories, feelings and stories from Regensburg: like the taste of ice cream on balmy summer nights, music sounding from courtyards, an enjoyable walk along the Danube and the smell of freshly baked "brezen". These pictorial ideas were realised in a playful approach to perspective and proportion. The various elements, figures and actions on the poster are in the style of the 'Wimmelbild' and reference the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. The reduced and transparent choice of colours is inspired by the work with printing techniques such as screen printing and risography. The graphic and two-dimensional approach to space, composition, figure and line is influenced by medieval book illustrations, the colours of the illustrator Roger Duvoisin, as well as the work of the Swedish graphic designer Olle Eksell.
